Download Only JPG or PNG Images — Bulk Image Downloader Pro

danito

Mixed URL lists deliver GIF sprites, SVG icons, WebP heroes, and 1×1 tracking pixels alongside the photographs you actually need. When your workflow accepts only two formats, you want to download only JPG or PNG images—not delete junk from the folder afterward.

Bulk Image Downloader Pro enforces format rules at scrape time and download time in Chrome. Three layers stack cleanly: file-type filters, Download IF URL rules, and an optional convert-only rescue task.

Step 1: set file-type filters on scrape and download

On the side-panel scraper, enable the file type filter and select JPEG and PNG only. That keeps GIF, SVG, WebP, and other formats out of the grid before you select files.

On the options-page task, match the same restriction in download settings so nothing outside JPEG/PNG saves even if a stray URL slips into the list.

Step 2: catch mislabeled URLs with Download IF URL rules

Some links hide their real type or lie in the path. Add rules evaluated at download time:

  • Contains rules for .jpg, .jpeg, and .png joined with OR logic
  • Not Contains rules for .webp, .gif, .svg, and .avif when you want zero exceptions
  • Regex when URLs carry noisy query strings but a reliable extension pattern

Your pasted URL list stays intact; only matching files save.

Step 3: rescue WebP sources with a convert-only task

When the only copy of an image is WebP and you need JPG or PNG on disk, duplicate the task and enable convert while downloading to JPEG or PNG output. Resize and convert are mutually exclusive per task—run conversion in its own task without resize enabled. Output formats are JPEG, WebP, and PNG; there is no AVIF conversion output, so AVIF sources need a different workflow or must be skipped.

Step 4: preview and verify before a large batch

Use grid or table view to confirm only JPEG and PNG thumbnails remain. Run the 404 checker on your URL list (HEAD with GET fallback) and paste reachable URLs into the final task—the checker confirms reachability, not MIME type by itself.

Enable per-task ZIP for large JPG/PNG-only sets. Everything runs locally in your browser.

Tier note
